أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ

وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ

تَرْمِيهِمْ بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ

فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍ

English Translation 

Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?

Did he not make their plan go astray?

And He sent against them birds in flocks,

Striking them with stones of baked clay,

And made them like eating straw.

الَّذِي أَطْعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٍ وَآمَنَهُم مِّنْ خَوْفٍ

For the security of Quraysh,

Their security in the journeys of winter and summer,

Let them worship the Lord of this House,

Who fed them against hunger and gave them safety.

وَيَمْنَعُونَ الْمَاعُونَ

Translation

Have you seen the one who denies religion?

That is the one who repulses the orphan

It does not encourage feeding the poor.

So woe to those who pray

But they are heedless of their prayer

Those who show off

And refuse small kindnesses.
